Norovirus / winter vomiting bug
Norovirus, also known as the winter vomiting bug, causes diarrhoea and vomiting and is one of the most common stomach bugs in the UK. Although it is more prevalent in winter, you can catch it at any time of the year.
Norovirus can be unpleasant but it usually clears up by itself within a few days. You can usually look after yourself or your child at home.
You should avoid going to see your GP as norovirus can spread to others very easily. If you do need advice, call your GP or NHS 111.
NHS Choices has lots of information about norovirus. This includes what the symptoms are, what to do, how to prevent norovirus and when to get medical advice.
