Cardiovascular (heart) disease

Cardiovascular disease is Bradford’s biggest killer and our male population has one of the highest rates of death from heart disease in the country.

More than one in ten people in Bradford are affected by high blood pressure – a leading cause of heart disease and strokes. Bradford's Healthy Hearts programme aims to reduce the number of people who die from cardiovascular disease by 10%.

Many different lifestyle factors will make a difference to your risk of heart disease – including whether you are overweight and how much you exercise. Bradford's Healthy Hearts website has lots more information about cardiovascular disease, what you can do to reduce your risks and what to do if you are worried.

If you are at a high risk of developing heart disease you may have already been contacted by your GP as part of Bradford's Healthy Hearts programme.
