New provider for Bradford City GP practice

New provider for Bradford City GP practice

A new temporary provider has been appointed by the local NHS to run Dr Basu’s GP practice in Bradford city.

Picton Medical Practice, which is based nearby, will provide continuity of care to all 1,600 patients at Dr Basu’s practice at Whetley Medical Centre.

NHS Bradford City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) needed to swiftly secure a new provider of medical services after it served a termination of contract notice to Dr Basu on 15 April.

This action was taken following a full quality assessment of the practice by the CCG and findings from a recent CQC inspection.

The CCG invited applications from all practices in Bradford to provide medical services for a period of 12 months

Patients at Dr Basu’s practice will be written to telling them about the change, but otherwise their care will continue as normal at the same site. The salaried staff from the practice are still there as their employment rights are protected.

Dr Akram Khan, clinical chair of Bradford City CCG, said: “We recognise that patients may be concerned during this period and we are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

“We have worked hard to keep any disruption to as short a time as possible and are delighted that we have a new provider to deliver safe, high quality primary care. We will let patients know of this change at the practice.”
