Bradford clinical leaders report on third year of business

Local people will have a chance to hear from the clinical leaders responsible for buying healthcare services for Bradford and ask any questions they have, at the CCGs’ annual general meetings (AGMs) this month.

Members of NHS Bradford City and NHS Bradford Districts clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) will use their AGMs to report back on their third year in business, highlight achievements in improving the quality of services for local people, and address some of the future challenges facing the NHS both locally and nationally.

Bradford Districts CCG’s meeting will be held on 28 September and Bradford City CCG’s meeting is on 20 September. As part of the AGMs the CCGs will present their annual report and annual accounts for 2015/15.

The meetings will give people an opportunity to hear about the CCGs’ achievements over the last 12 months, the challenges they have faced and their vision for the future.

Dr Akram Khan, clinical chair of Bradford City CCG, said: “It has been another important year for the NHS locally as we continue to improve local people’s health and wellbeing and reduce the deep health inequalities that exist in our area.

“We have been working through an ambitious programme which focuses on reducing the incidence of diabetes through our successful Bradford Beating Diabetes campaign, improving the patient experience, improving maternal and child health, and mental health.”

Bradford Districts CCG has also had a very busy year in which it has taken on new challenges and made sure that it continues to deliver the best quality services to keep local people in good health.

“The NHS is not just about managing sickness, we also need to support people to stay healthy for longer,” said Dr Andy Withers, clinical chair of Bradford Districts CCG. “Our Bradford’s Healthy Hearts campaign is doing just that by reducing stroke and heart attack in people who are in risk groups.”

People are welcome to attend the meetings and put questions to the CCGs on the following dates. Both meetings are at Carlisle Business Centre, Bradford.
